2010 Holiday Celebration Event

The San Antonio Post will wrap up the year and bring in 2011 with its annual Holiday Celebration Event on Saturday, Dec 11th, 6:00 - 10:30 pm, at the Plaza Club at the top of the Frost Bank downtown.

This will be the 7th straight year for this special event - an evening of fun together to thank our members for their great support throughout the year.

It promises to be another spectacular night of fun ...... good food, spirits galore, entertainment, dancing, special guests, silent auction, prize drawings and best of all the comaraderie of your fellow Post members and friends.

So plan to kick off the holiday season right and join us to EAT, DRINK and BE MERRY together at our special event!!!

* NOTE: In the true spirit of the Holiday season, we are asking all attendees to bring a toy to donate to the U.S. Marines "Toys for Tots" program. Toys should be new, unwrapped, at least $10 in value, and targeted for boys/girls from 0-13 years old.

The cost for this evening of Holiday fun is as follows:
  • $35* per person for San Antonio Post Young Members and their Guest


  • $45* per person for San Antonio Post Members and their Guest


  • $60 per person for all others


  • $550 for a reserved table for companies/organizations or you and your friends (includes 10 places, table location selection, & table sign)

Scholarship Winner Tickets | (back to top)
2011 Post Named Scholarship Winners are eligible for up to three (3) complimentary tickets (scholarship winner and two (2) Guests) for this special event.

If additional tickets are needed, they will be at the prices above for Post Members, Young Members or Non-Members.

All payments for any Holiday Celebration order(s) are due no later than Friday, Dec 7. If your payment is not received by Dec 7 your order(s) will be canceled.

Reservations and ticket payments received by Friday, Nov 26, entitle all members of your party to an extra prize drawing ticket. Please refer to the Prize Drawing Section for more details.

Payments for tickets, sponsorships, and cash donations may be made by credit card through the reservation web site or by check made payable to "SAME, San Antonio Post". Please mail your check to:

Cancellations | (back to top)
If you have a change in plans, we request that you can cancel your reservations before Friday, Dec 7. While we will miss you, we expect a sold out Event and will be creating a waiting list. We would like to be able to provide an opportunity to attend our celebration to those on the waiting list.

If you cancel by Dec 7 the cost of your ticket(s) will be refunded minus $10 (for fees we already incurred).

There will be no refunds for cancellations after Dec 7. Remember reservation(s) not paid for by Friday, Dec 7, will be automatically canceled.
 
If you wish to cancel your reservation, please email Bonnie Hopke (see POC Section below). You will receive confirmation of the cancellation of your reservation and, if you paid by credit card, a refund will automatically be made to your credit card. If you paid by check, your check will be returned or a refund will be processed after the Event.

Located only minutes from the River Walk and Alamo, the Plaza Club offers the finest Dining & Business Center in the San Antonio Area.

The Club is located at 100 W. Houston, San Antonio, TX 78205 on the 21st floor of the Frost Bank building.

Parking is available in the Frost Bank parking garage. After 6:00 pm there should be no fee for parking in the garage for a Club event.

To get to the Plaza Club, take the parking garage elevators to the Bank Lobby. Go through the Bank Lobby towards the Bank teller stations. Take the elevators for floors 11-21 by the Bank tellers to the 21st floor, the Plaza Club. Our event is in the Main Room of the Club.

For this year's Holiday Celebration we will have some very special guests.

eulbergOur TEXOMA Regional Vice President Glen Turney and his wife, Caroline, will be our honored guests for our holiday festivities. Glen will preside over the installation of our new officers during our event.

Our new Post Named Scholarship Winners accompanied by their family members or friends will also join us for the evening to accept their scholarship awards. Because of your outstanding support of our Post events this year, it will be an extra special Christmas for these oustanding young college students!

In addition, representatives from the local Marine unit will be our guests at the event to accept your generous gifts for the "Toys for Tots" program. Please bring your new unwrapped toys to the Event and place them by the Christmas tree in the Plaza Club foyer.

band Our entertainment and dance music will again be provided by the Tobias Band.

The Tobias Band is a popular local area entertainment group that plays at the Clubs at Randolph and Lackland AFBs and private parties/events in the San Antonio area.

Dress | (back to top)
dressDress for the evening will be holiday attire - coat & tie for men and cocktail dress or equivalent for the ladies.

Holiday colors and accessories (festive ties, bright red or green dresses or hats, etc.) are encouraged, of course, to show off the appropriate spirit!

There will be several prizes awarded for the best Holiday attire!

Display your holiday spirit and you could be a prize winner!

Your meal for the evening will be a choice of:
    food
  • Five Peppercorn Crusted Beef Tenderloin Filet with Red Wine Demiglace OR Fillet of Snapper New Orleans with Crab, Crawfish & Shrimp OR Breast of Chicken Picatta with Lemon Caper Butter and Angel hair Pasta
  • Plaza Club Garden Salad with Balsamic Vinaigrette
  • Chef’s Selection of Potatoes & Vegetables
  • Rolls & Butter
  • Strawberries Romanov or Chocolate Mousse Cake
  • Ice Tea & Coffee

Please make your entrée selection when you make your reservations. We need entrée selections for all members of your party by Nov 30.

A cash bar will be available throughout the evening, starting at 6:00 PM, for those merry souls that wish to partake of the other kind of "holiday spirits".

Our prize drawings will take place periodically during the music and dancing portion of the evening (8:15 - 10:30 pm).

For each ticket purchased for the event you will get one prize drawing ticket (10 if you purchased a table). So everyone attending has a chance to win!

raffleIf your ticket is drawn, you must be present to claim the prize.

Those that make thei reservation and pay for the event early by Nov 26 - will receive one extra drawing ticket per event ticket purchased (10 extra drawing tickets for early table purchases).

We are keeping ticket prices as low as possible for this event to show our appreciation for our members' support throughout the year. The Post Board has helped by providing Post Operations funds to help kick start the event financially.

But to make this all happen, we also need individual and sustaining members to provide their support and help make this a memorable event.

donateMaybe you have some connections with a local merchandiser, travel agency, restaurant, service provider or recreation outlet that could help us get some donated item(s) for the drawings. This is another great way to get new clientele introduced to that business!

Or maybe you would like to donate a prize or cash for the fabulous prize drawings.

Your support will be greatly appreciated and duly recognized!

The question you should be thinking about is "what can I do to make the Holiday Celebration a success?" What better way to start the holiday season (a traditional time of giving and sharing) than knowing you helped make this event a great time for your Post and fellow SAME members!
